Soul Saturday, a leading Christian-based youth conference, is providing fellowship for participants and unique fundraising opportunities for churches.
February 24, 2009 (Richmond, VA) Preparations for the 2nd Annual Soul Saturday Youth Empowerment Conference are in full swing. Founder and CEO, Thomi Hairston, is on a mission to take this uplifting one-day event to levels that will permeate participants all year round. Taking place at Paramount’s King’s Dominion located just 20 miles north of Richmond, VA, Soul Saturday is designed to bring youth together for a positive, uplifting day filled with music, food and fellowship—a much-needed event during a time where community driven initiatives are desperately needed.
The conference is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2009 from 10am to 8pm. Soul Saturday will provide life empowering seminars with youth ministers, live performances by notable artists and choirs, and park amusements and activities will also be available to make the day complete for kids and adults alike. More importantly, this event affords churches a unique opportunity to raise funds for their own programs and congregational needs.
“This conference is exactly what every community needs. The economy is a mess, people are struggling, [and our kids]…they need something to look forward to…something to keep them motivated toward their hopes and dreams. This event can really change people lives,” says Carla Johnson, an elementary school teacher and single mother of two boys.

X Records Teams Up with Hip-Hop’s A-List on the Dreamz 2 Reality Live Tour and Gives Unsigned Artists a National Platform
Veteran recording label aims to take the music industry in a new direction with a city-by-city tour endorsed by some of Hip-Hop’s most successful artists and executives.
February 16, 2009 (Richmond, VA) X Records, along with Smooth Dirty Productions and the Malaco Music Group will launch its Dreamz 2 Reality Live Tour next month in Richmond, Virginia in an effort to find the music industry’s next breakout star. Spearheaded by a team of veteran record label executives, the tour is designed to identify those artists that not only have the “it” factor, but can deliver on what music fans really want. For the one who is left standing, a slew of top-notch prizes along with bragging rights awaits them.
Scheduled to stop in seven additional markets across the nation including: Philadelphia, Orlando, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Cleveland, the Dreamz 2 Reality Live Tour will provide unsigned acts the opportunity to showcase their raw talent in front of certified music industry leaders. Nationally recognized artists like the Atlanta-bred Youngbloodz are slated to join the tour as judges, as well as the uber-successful and animated duo, Red Man and Method Man.
Dreamz 2 Reality Live is different from the run-of-the-mill talent searches that precede it. This tour will utilize the online social networking landscape in conjunction with a grassroots component that features live performances, sans the over-produced fluff to camouflage real talent. Superstar wannabes will get one shot at the audition in their city and top performers will go round for round until a champion is crowned.
“Music fans and artists, respectively, need this outlet”, says Thomas “FAT Thomi” Hairston, President of X Records. “X Records is about getting back to basics while still moving forward and this tour is a means for undiscovered talent to get a leg up…to move forward. We’re going to show the industry that fans still want [and support] good music…real Hip-Hop”.
