4Kings Entertainment Gears Up to Shoot Pilot Episode of “The Mighty Mighty Beat Down” and the “Behind the Boards Series” Amid Industry Buzz

Uber-creative and hard-hitting reality television series will examine the impact and relevance of the Hip-Hop Culture from a producer’s perspective.

July 18, 2009 (Atlanta, GA) – Next month, 4Kings Entertainment will film its pilot episode of two breakthrough events, “The Mighty Mighty Beat Down” and the “Behind the Boards Series” at Lenny’s Bar in Decatur, Georgia. In a time when the fate of the Hip-Hop culture is in constant dispute, an event of this dimension is way past due. With a hot production crew and shrewd executive-producers at the helm, it’s apparent why these highly-anticipated programs have already garnered major network television favor. Everything jumps off Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 10PM—the precise moment when a rich culture, gifted producers and technology have a meeting of the minds.

The brainchild of 4Kings Entertainment, the “Behind the Boards Series” is the place where Hip-Hop meets BRAVO’s Inside the Actor’s Studio and MTV’s Unplugged. Hosting some of the most sought after producers in Hip-Hop, in a studio talk show-style setting, the “Behind The Boards Series” gives Hip-Hop enthusiasts, critics and up and coming producers, first-hand accounts on making Hip-Hop classics, the business of Hip-Hop and little-known facts about the Hip-Hop culture and the artists it births.

The pilot episode will spotlight Atlanta’s own BATTERY 5 and will be hosted by music connoisseur, Dres tha Beatnik, with DJs Edward Scizzahandz & Megatoronics. Held bi-monthly at the unpretentious Atlanta venue, Lenny’s Bar, located at 486 Decatur St NE, Atlanta, GA 30312, the “Behind the Boards Series” is an extension of “The Mighty Mighty Beat Down”, Atlanta’s first producer battle event. Since its inception, the show has given insight into the careers of music producers such as legendary Hip-Hop producer Diamond D, Grammy Award-Winning producer 9th Wonder & Grammy-Nominated producer Mannie Fresh. And for a meager $10, music lovers and fans can get a backstage pass into the music-making “experience” and actually converse with some of the world’s most prolific composers and producers.

“Both shows are and have been ground-breaking events for the Hip-Hop music culture here in Atlanta. Behind The Boards speaks to the intellect of Hip-Hop fans—while providing a platform to dispel myths that run rampant in the business of Hip-Hop,” says D.R.E.S. tha BEATnik, CEO of 4Kings Entertainment, “While the Mighty Mighty Beat Down allows up and coming producers to share their works with the world and get instant feedback…this show moves the producer to the spotlight while keeping them in an intimate and familiar setting.”

Seek and Ye Shall Find...and Get!

I hit a roadblock about two weeks ago. For the first time in a very long time I lost my mojo. I felt like I didn't know which direction--if any--my professional life was going. I was stuck. For those of us blessed and cursed with an entrepreneurial spirit know this place very well--and it's a place we hate to reside in for too long.

Ironically, this was exactly where I needed to be at this juncture. The wall that I found myself facing would soon provide me with a new-found motivation and desire to work even harder. You see, I needed answers and the "wall" helped me find them.

As a PR chick, our mission and purpose in life is to cheer for our clients, keep them in a positive spotlight, get the public excited about their product, service, or latest creation (in my case working with artists), and do all of this with a smile. Living in these volatile economic times, it's no easy feat procuring new clients or maintaining existing ones. Times are tough...but remember the "wall"? I shut down for two whole days and vedged out in my condo. Thinking, thinking, and thinking...and then it hit me. The same energy I was exerting to promote my clients is exactly what I needed for myself. I was a pr rep who wasn't promoting herself!

As I ascended from my very brief hiatus, it occurred to me that there are entirely too many FREE resources and platforms with which I can promote my business. It's up to me to utilize them for all they're worth. The same social networks I grew weary from using day in and day out are the same ones that helped me land a new client--almost immediately. I know it's overwhelming when you stop and think of all the things to keep up with online. But in 2009 it's imperative for business people to work in the digital space if you are to be competitive and anywhere near the leading edge.

All this venting to say: embrace the social media space and make your time online count. There are opportunities waiting for you on the other side of your wall. It's okay to shut down and re-group. I found myself simply not knowing where to go or what to do next. So, I re-entered the world of Twitter--the same social network I denouced because it was too exhausting to keep up. Little did I know that my answers, pep talks, inspirational vitamins, and motivation would come from this network. Again, I say, make your time online count and work for your good.

So for any of you finding yourselves at a professional crossroads, just remember to put yourself in a positive space where the answers will easily flow to you. Head up...Eyes Forward!
