Virginia’s Top-Rated DJ Personality Launches New Brand in the Sunshine State

Richmond’s DJ Expo joins the X Records roster and sets a new trend in sunny Tampa Bay.

August 31, 2009 (Atlanta, GA) – If his network of high-profile friends, a loyal fan base, website analytics or buzz on the streets isn’t enough of an indication of where he’s heading, DJ Expo’s organic and unique skills behind the boards says it all. As one of Richmond, Virginia’s most talented and sought-after deejays, Expo has created a major name for himself and his style of entertaining crowds at the city’s hottest clubs. So when X Records approached the cut-creator about bringing his brand to a new city, the young entrepreneur set out for the swaying palms and breezes of the Sunshine State.

DJ Expo, a moniker identifying his ability to bring fans and party-goers the best in music, entertainment and style, has a proven track record of working with some of the industry’s biggest artists. It’s his throwback approach to deejaying that resonates in the clubs and on major venue stages. Expo has a real passion and ardent understanding for what people want. His long-term relationship with companies like FACEJAY Promotions and X Records taught him how to tap into the emotions of his audience and create memorable events and experiences. As a new resident of Tampa, DJ Expo is on task to making his mark in the commercial and underground music scene.

“When viable opportunities present themselves, you have to look at them, assess and take a chance. I’m about moving forward and creating paths for myself artistically and professionally, so a move to Tampa made sense”, says DJ Expo about leaving Richmond. “What we’re about to introduce to this city is a movement…and I’m ready and well-prepared for the ride”.

Eclectic Tampa- Based Recording Artists, Blac Soap, Head for the Border as They Gear up to Shoot the Video for Their Premier Single, “80’s Boom Box”

Hip-Hop’s breath of fresh air, Blac Soap, is taking their game to the next level with their hot new single and a futuristic video to accessorize it.

August 31, 2009 (Atlanta, GA) – Newly signed to X Records, the uber-creative duo known as Blac Soap, will get some northern exposure as they leave the sun and palm trees of Tampa for the crisp air and picturesque landscape of Ontario, Canada. The Hip-Hop dynamos are on deck for a busy month that includes a video shoot for their breakout hit “80’s Boom Box” being shot in Hamilton [Ontario] on September 25, 2009. Taking the production to another country is dual-purposed—and is just the beginning of a movement that will soon be international.

The group that is Blac Soap is comprised of two multi-talented producers, musicians, writers, and visual artists known as Seif and Fly Beads. Originally from Long Island, New York and Fayetteville, North Carolina, respectively, the two reside and call Tampa, Florida home. Their unforgettable presence and fresh style caught the attention of Tampa native, Prechae Rodriguez, the agile star wide receiver for the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The immediate friendship that sparked unveiled a slew of common interests—mainly music and the arts—and would eventually bring Blac Soap to Rodriguez’s playing turf.

Blac Soap’s brand new single, “80’s Boom Box” is making serious waves and garnering a buzz that has made the CFL take notice. The impending video will illustrate the cool, futuristic and funky vibe that resonates in Blac Soap’s music. “80’s Boom Box” takes you back to the fresh-dressed Hip-Hop that once exuded the four elements instead of shading them. The group’s motto, “Green Music for Blue People” speaks volumes in a time where people are searching for the simple things in life again. “80’s Boom Box” is the beginning of a solution for a musical culture experiencing so many problems. Shooting the video in Canada affords a fresh perspective, as well as some promotional resources for their breakout project.

“Linking up with Prechae Rodriguez and having that relationship connect us to others is amazing”, says Seif of Blac Soap, “Everything we’ve been working so hard for is coming together, and our creative vision is being realized. Being able to go to Canada to do the video…to bring our style and sound to a new environment is something every artist shoots for”.

Production begins on Friday, September 25th and will extend through the weekend.
